Filmyzilla App APK 2026: Why It Is Unsafe and Which Official Movie Apps to Use
There is no official Filmyzilla app on the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. A Filmyzilla APK comes from an unknown developer and can request access to your SMS, contacts and storage, which exposes banking OTPs. Official apps such as Netflix, Prime Video, JioHotstar and Amazon MX Player are the safe alternatives.

Many websites offer a "Filmyzilla APK download" button that promises free movies on your phone. This guide explains what that APK really is, the permissions such apps ask for, how to check whether a movie app is official, how to remove an unsafe APK, and which official apps to install instead.
What Is the Filmyzilla APK?
The Filmyzilla APK is an Android installation file (APK, Android Package Kit) shared on websites and Telegram channels that claims to give free access to Filmyzilla movies. It is installed outside the Play Store, so Google's app review never checks it. Because Filmyzilla has no registered owner, nobody stands behind the app or its updates.
Is the Filmyzilla APK Safe?
No. The Filmyzilla APK is not safe, because anyone can change and re-upload an APK file, and there is no official version to compare it with. A file downloaded from a file-sharing site or a "Download APK" button can contain anything its uploader added.
Permissions Unofficial Movie APKs Ask For
Unofficial movie APKs often ask for 5 permissions that a video app does not need, listed below.
- SMS access, which lets the app read OTPs from your bank
- Contacts access, which lets it upload your contact list
- Install unknown apps, which lets it install more apps without the Play Store
- Display over other apps, which lets it show ads or fake login screens on top of other apps
- Accessibility access, which lets it read the screen and tap buttons for you
A licensed streaming app needs internet and storage access, and sometimes notifications.
Level 777, Castle, MLSBD and Other Movie Apps
Apps like Level 777, Castle, MLSBD, Video Boy and Filmi 4 are distributed as APK files for free movie access. Treat any movie app that is offered only as an APK download, and not on the Play Store under a named company, as unverified and unsafe. Their APK files can be changed by anyone who re-uploads them.
How to Check Whether a Movie App Is Official
To check whether a movie app is official, follow the 4 steps below.
- Search for the app inside the Google Play Store, not on a website.
- Check the developer name under the app title, for example Netflix, Inc. or Amazon Mobile LLC.
- Check that the app has a large download count and a privacy policy link.
- Leave Google Play Protect turned on, so it scans every app you install.
How to Remove an Unsafe APK
To remove an unsafe APK from your phone, follow the 5 steps below.
- Open Settings, then Apps, and find the app.
- Tap Uninstall. If the button is greyed out, remove the app from Device admin apps first.
- Open Settings, then Special app access, then Install unknown apps, and turn the permission off for your browser and file manager.
- Run a scan in Google Play Protect.
- Change your passwords and call your bank if the app had SMS access.

There is no official Filmyzilla app, and any Filmyzilla APK comes from an unknown developer who can read your SMS and OTPs. Movie apps offered only as APK files carry the same risk.
Install movie apps only from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, and remove any APK you are not sure about. Free legal apps such as Amazon MX Player cover many of the same films. For the wider risks of piracy sites, see the guide to Filmyzilla and why movie torrents are risky.
